A delegation from the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS) led by the President, Mr. Simon Annan on March 27, 2024, paid a courtesy call on CalBank, aiming to foster collaboration in advocating and promoting the passage of the procurement bill. The bill, seen as an important step in streamlining procurement processes and fostering sustainability, holds the potential to set new standards and regulate the practice of the procurement and supply chain profession in Ghana.

Mr. Simon Annan expressed the institute’s commitment to promoting integrity and probity within the procurement sector. He remarked, “The passage of the procurement bill is a significant milestone in our efforts to uphold ethical standards and regulate the practice of the procurement and supply profession in Ghana. Collaboration with key stakeholders like CalBank is essential in driving this agenda forward.”

CalBank’s management, on the other hand, welcomed the initiative and emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in Ghana.

The proposed procurement bill aims to establish, improve, and publish standards for practitioners, enforce ethical and professional standards, and ultimately enhance the integrity of the procurement and supply profession in the country. Through collaboration and advocacy efforts, GIPS and CalBank aspire to drive positive change and contribute to the development of a fair and transparent procurement landscape in Ghana.
