CalBank Promotes Financial Literacy for over 800 Parents & Younger Learners at the Holy Family R/C School in Techiman.

calbank promotes financial literacy for over 800 parents & younger learners at the holy family r:c school in techimanAs part of CalBank’s continued Corporate Social Initiative to improve upon basic education in deprived communities, the Bank, in partnership with United Way Ghana, embarked on mentorship and financial literacy program for over 800 students at the Holy Family Catholic School in Techiman on 1st November 2022.

The program which began from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the school premises had in attendance, some Key Community Leaders, Parents, Representatives from United Way Ghana, Staff, and Students of the school. CalBank PLC donated story books to equip the students with reading skills to improve upon their English Language; and bookshelves, plastic chairs, and plastic tables to furnish the school’s library. In a speech delivered by the Head of Marketing, the Bank further promised to assist the school set up a computer lab to facilitate the teaching and learning of ICT among the teachers and students.

calbank promotes financial literacy for over 800 parents & younger learners at the holy family r:c school in techiman1Volunteers from CalBank PLC had the chance to instruct students in classes ranging from fourth grade to junior high school on a variety of subjects, including personal hygiene, sex education, time management, goal-setting, and financial literacy. The JHS 3 students participated in a special session designed to give them knowledge on how to better manage their life after JHS 3, whether they have the chance to continue their studies or not. For the teachers, parents, community leaders, and other dignitaries present, there was also a lesson on financial literacy and an introduction to the products of the Bank. Every session was engaging and extremely interesting. The participants shared their delight and gratitude.

The Bank, through the Volunteer staff, will continue with further engagements and follow-ups on how the young learners are applying the knowledge gained. They will also organize and visit the school periodically to develop coaching relationships and mentor these young ones.
