CalBank National Service Personnel 2021/2022 Batch Gives Facelift to the Ghana Blind Union Hostel.

The 2021/2022 batch of National Service Personnel (NSP) of CalBank has renovated the hostel and Project Office (White Cane) of the Ghana Blind Union at Adabraka. The Ghana Blind union (GBU) is a merger of the Ghana Association of the blind and the Ghana Society for the blind, advocating for the total inclusion of blind and partially sighted persons in society through awareness raising, services in education, training and rehabilitation.

This gesture from the NSP exudes the Bank’s overall core values of being Responsible, Effective and Decisive. Since 2007, each group of CalBank National Service Personnel has identified a societal need in line with the Bank’s strategy, raised funds and gone ahead to meet such needs.

Mr. Godfred Tamakloe, President of the 2021/2022 Batch of National Service Personnel said, they chose the Ghana Blind Union due to a presentation Management made about their needs. “There was one time that in the course of our deliberations of a place to undertake our project that I drove past this route and noticed the Ghana Blind Union. I read a little bit about the organization online and decided with my team to engage the authorities. We got impressed with what they do and got fascinated about the Assistive IT Center they had in place. It was during the discussions that we realized the facility needed further support,” he remarked.

Madam Lamisi Dabre, Board Member of the Ghana Blind Union appreciated the CalBank team for their support. “We know that it has been a very difficult year for everyone and so for the team to save some money from the little allowances they receive indicates an organizational culture of the Bank to give back. If you build such values in younger people, chances are that they will grow old and continue to replicate these values wherever they find themselves. On behalf of the Union, we are very grateful,” she said.

Mr. Samuel K. Boafo, Head of People & Culture at CalBank, assured the Union of the Bank’s continual support. He also charged the management of Ghana Blind Union to put the renovated facility to good use to the benefit all.
